Welcome Thunder players and fans to the inaugural edition of our newsletter! We are now well into the season with most teams having played multiple games. Keep reading below for all the highlights. The executive and coaching teams have been hard at work to make sure this year is a huge success. I would like to give a big shout out to all the new and returning FUN1 players that have registered this year, we have had so many that we had to put some on a waiting list. Way to go FUN1s!
The BIG Update
This year we kicked things off with three weeks of dry land training that was available free of charge to all registered PRA players thanks to an amazing sponsorship by Dinsmore Fabricating. We had a great turnout for all the sessions and not even rain stopped us.
On Sunday, October 26th, PRA hosted our annual University Showcase Games. This event was an amazing success that started with the Paris Thunder Open A team taking on the Kitchener Wildcats. The game was followed by a skills clinic run by the Guelph Gryphon University team where 25 players took the opportunity to learn from some of the best. The Guelph Gryphons then faced off against the Brock Badgers. During the intermission the FUN2 team was able to jump on the ice and scrimmage each other in front of a big crowd! The event was finished off with the Open A team returning to the ice to face the Guelph Predators. TKO Jersey Co. was on site to showcase all the available Paris Thunder spirit wear. We’d like to give a shout out to our sponsor - Anne Hodgson, IG Wealth Management - for supplying popcorn for players who came out to support the PRA at the showcase. Finally a huge thank you to our equipment manager Jessie Donn (and Corey, who manned the table for 4 straight hours) for setting up the donations and equipment drive. We were able to clear out a ton of old jersey and merch that all found new homes.
Our first power skating and NRL clinics have been a big success, to learn more and participate see below or checkout our website.
ON THE ICE
Power Skating
Edges, what are those for? Nervous going into those turns trying to lose a defender? Falling down when you have to make sudden cuts chasing a player through the neutral zone? Power skating can help!
The first power skating session took place on Friday, October 3rd. This was a great session and we had lots of positive feedback. There is still time to register for the remaining sessions with each session now available individually for $25. Go to https://www.rampregistrations.com/login?v3=55ecd6d59f, click 2025/25 Club Camps and Clinics and choose the player and power skating dates you are interested in.
NRL Clinics
The National Ringette League is the highest level of Ringette Canada has to offer and PRA is excited to have some of these incredible players host skills clinics for anyone interested. These clinics are a great chance for young athletes to sharpen their skills with guidance from elite-level players. If you’re considering it, we recommend registering early since spots are limited and tend to fill quickly.

U19A: Off to a Strong Start on the Ice
The Paris U19A ringette team has kicked off their season with an impressive string of performances, combining determination, skill, and resilience to establish themselves as a team to watch this year.
The squad opened their campaign at the 11th Annual Early Bear One Day Pre-Season Tournament in Markham on September 6. Paris battled Oshawa to a 1-1 tie in their first game before powering past Sunderland with a 5-2 victory. They capped off the tournament with a 3-1 win over Richmond Hill, finishing the day undefeated and setting a confident tone for the season ahead.
Regular season play began on October 5 at the Brant Sports Complex, where Paris edged Burlington in a thrilling 4-3 contest. The team followed up with a commanding 3-0 shutout against Richmond Hill at the Ed Sakfield Arena. In their next outing, Paris staged a comeback against Burlington, erasing a 2-0 deficit to secure a 3-2 win on the road.
Their toughest test came against league powerhouse Forest. Paris led 3-1 at halftime, but Forest stormed back in the second half to claim a narrow 5-4 victory. Despite the loss, Paris demonstrated grit and competitiveness against one of the league’s top-ranked teams.
The team will travel to London for the Pink the Rink Tournament (Nov. 7–9) and then head to Nepean for the Provincial Qualifier (Nov. 14–16). Regional league games resume on November 30.
With a record of 3-1-1 in regular season play and a strong pre-season showing, the U19A’s have shown resilience and skill, and November promises to be an exciting month on the ice.
U19B
Our U19B team is off to a slow start this season, with a tie and two losses. Despite this there is a lot of promise ahead as the team never quits and is coming together to support and challenge each other.
We are looking ahead to our first tournament in Sudbury (Nov 21-23) where we hope to see some different opponents than normal.
League play for this team ramps up at the end of November as well. With more frequent games it should be exciting to see what the team can do.
U16B
The Paris Thunder U16B team is off to an exciting start this season! They’ve fought some tough battles, the players are beginning to find their rhythm and build great chemistry on the ice. The team’s energy, effort, and teamwork are growing stronger with every game, and it’s clear they’re starting to gel as a unit. Next up, they’ll take that momentum into their first tournament of the season in St. Catharines on November 21, ready to show just how much they’ve come together as a team!
U14B
With three difficult contenders to start off the year the U14s kept a close game through two games. Close enough to a W that the players can't wait to face those teams again.
New skaters step onto the ice and returning players step up their game with wicked wrist shot skills and plays to drive the net resulting in all goals by different players so far this year. Great team work!
Nov 21st - 23rd brings the U14s to St. Catharines for their first tournament of their year where they face Kitchener, Burlington and Newmarket. Let's Go Thunder!
U12B
Our U12B team may be small in numbers, but they’re making a big impact on the ice! They’ve kicked off the season with an incredible 5-0-0 record, showing skill, teamwork, and determination in every game.
This group is a perfect mix of experienced “veterans” and enthusiastic new players who’ve fit in seamlessly from day one. Every player is eager to learn and grow, and it’s been amazing to watch their progress so far.
Defensively, the team has been rock solid — allowing only five goals in five games. That’s an incredible stat and a testament to their hard work and teamwork.
Special shout-out to Erin! In her very first year of ringette, she’s already scored her first goal(s) of the season!
Another big shout-out to Ady! Also in her first season, she’s earned her first shutout — way to go!
Next up, the team heads to London, November 7–9, ready to create new memories, and hopefully bring home some hardware.
FUN3
The FUN3 team has come together quickly and has been able to start the season strong at 2-0-0. Their first game was away in Burlington where they took on the Blast and came out on top with an 9-2 win. The second game of the season saw them face the Caledonia Lightning for a home game. The girls started the game a little slow but some amazing goaltending by Celia Donn kept the game at 0 despite a dozen or so shots in the first minutes of the game. The girls quickly found their legs and were able to secure a 8-1 victory against Caledonia. Even more exciting, goals in the first Fun 3 games have been shared across with the team with 8 different goal scorers so far!
The FUN3 team is working hard to be prepared for the St. Catherines tournament at the end of the month. This weekend they have two games, they take on the Stingers in Etobicoke on Saturday evening, and then play a Sunday afternoon game at home against Burlington Blast.
FUN2: Making New Friends and Learning New Skills
The FUN 2 team is moving quicker by the week. They are learning the basic concepts of ringette and have shown amazing improvement. With only 2 returning players from last season, they are making new friends and learning new skills together. The team really shined in their first scrimmage at the Ringette Showcase and have played two Home Exhibition games against more seasoned opponents; first versus the Waterloo Wildfire and then last weekend against the Tillsonburg Twisters. Their next Exhibition game is scheduled for Sunday November 16th, when the FUN2s will travel to Waterloo. The team is working on developing skating and passing as they gear up for their first tournament in Ajax-Pickering on December 6th!
